TADA!

Here's a long overdue update to this thread. Some reputable names offer their thoughts on the Agloco MLM scheme:

Shawn Collins:
Quote:
"! have been getting a steady stream of spam e-mails from people promoting the AGLOCO multi-level (not affiliate!) marketing program, and it's getting worse. Not only is the spam from these AGLOCOians incredibly annoying, but it's based on a big BS story perpetuated by AGLOCO themselves.

One recent e-mail I received from an AGLOCO rep had this subject: BILL GATES!! HE'S HELPING START THIS!! YA BETTER GET ON BOARD WHILE IT'S STILL NEW!!..."
Shoemoney:
Quote:
"There is a new company spamming getting around the web called Agloco. Lets go back in time a bit first to the original company that went bust doing the exact same system - AllAdvantage. AllAdvantage raised 200 million in VC in 1999 and started the first “get paid to surf the internet” program. Basically you install a toolbar and get paid as they collect your userdata and also throw ads at you. The problem is really you only make a few cents a day… however… the people who were on the first tier and refered friends who refered friends who referred friends who referred friends could actually make a ton of cash. Its like the ultimate pyramid scam (yes its technically not a pyrimid scam because you are not paying money however you are paying with your data/information)."
And some truly awesomeness:

Kumiko:
Quote:
"It's Multi Level Marketing at it's worst!! Whenever MLM receives bad reviews, a handful of people come out and claim that they've made fortunes from it. And I'm sure they have. The structure of MLM dictates that those lucky few at the top of the pyramid (scheme) should receive a large portion of any earnings. BUT, unless you are at the top of the pyramid, you can pretty much guarantee that your earnings will be next to nothing."
And Kumiko also adds:

Quote:
"Don't believe the hype! Supporters also claim that AGLOCO is a solid venture as the team behind it includes a whopping eight Stanford MBA holders. Do you know who Kenneth Lay was? He's not involved in AGLOCO as he was the CEO of Enron and was indicted by a grand jury on 11 counts of securities fraud and related charges - and he was also the Stanford Business School Alumni Association's Houston Business Man of the Year. I am not saying anything negative against Stanford MBA holders - just that having an MBA does not automatically lend surefire 100% credibility to the programs."
I don't really have anything else to add to the conversation because I've already said my piece. I'm just hoping to bring awareness to the issue so that WFers don't spend their marketing dollars trying to sell this shit. Spend it on some PPC ads or Newsletter ads for niche products if you truly want to see an ROI.
