aeiouy, just because something has been happening for a long time means we shouldn't do anything about it? I've only been in the world for 19 years, but this is my country, and I am the one who has to live in it for the coming years. Why should my generation have to do things like they always were just because our fathers, grandfathers, and great-grandfathers decided they would let things happen to them?
Why do you think everyone outraged is so crazy? I don't think anyone is dumb enough to just stop paying their federal income tax, because we know exactly what happens, we get fined and/or go to jail. I'm definitely not stupid enough to try it.
But where you are wrong is that we can't do anything about it. Like you said if people want to promote change, we can do it through our political process. But it will take a lot open minds, and perhaps a little bit of pissed off people.
You tell me why we should settle for less than the best of what this country can be?

Might as well just have a huge national lottery if that is what you want to do, and use that to fund everything.

You didn't read what I posted earlier, sales tax doesn't have to be regressive, and the way fairtax is set up, it won't:
No More Income Taxes in the US?!
And if the powers that be would love a national sales tax so much, how come they aren't doing it? How come they insisted on creating
their bloated tax system? Why did they create the IRS instead to control everything? Why does the
national sales tax idea have trouble catching ground with the powers that be?
