If your goal is to just make a living, then you're selling yourself short. People notoriously slow down when they get near their goals and never actually reach then. So, set the bar higher. If you want to make a living, decide how much it would take to survive on, and then double it. That way, if you start to slow down, you've already surpassed your survival point.

For example, for myself and my family, it would take about $5000 Gross per month to survive. So, my personal goal per month is $20,000 (yeah, that's more than double). Once, I get nearer to that goal, say around $10k, I'll re-evaluate and set a new one.

I don't ever want to reach my goals. If you do, you'll become complacent.
