Forums effects on you?
Those of you who, like me, spend multiple hours a day on a forum, do you ever consider it's potential effects on you and your personality? Possibly how it effects your interactions with people in the real world? I often find myself being very impatient with people who have nothing interesting to say (most people), and find myself wondering if the fact that I get a large portion of my social interactions via forums exacerbates this. I'm certain it does, just not sure how much. Could just be because most people are idiots right? Not saying everyone is because I meet people smarter than me all the time, but for the most part, I think the people I meet and interact with are fairly simple minded and I tend to instantly disregard their opinions. When I do meet an interesting person, I'm completely open, but until they demonstrate to me that their not a retard like the rest of the herd I'm completely closed off to whatever dumb shit they want to talk about. Possibly, if I spent less time on forums this feeling wouldn't be so prevalent?
I'm not complaining. I love having access to hundreds of intelligent people who have the same interests as me. I couldn't imagine living in a time where I didn't have such interaction and shared knowledge at my fingertips, but it surely alters your brain structure, and your social perceptions.. and I'd like to be more patient with those around me who are taking their time to talk to me. I'm sure their great people, and I'm not looking down on them. They just bore the hell out of me.
Anybody else ever think about this shit?
