The other way of looking at it is that it is saying
everyone should work to the best of their ability, contributing to society, and
everyone should only take from society what they need, rather than those with the power and money using that to take from those who are weaker.
It works very well on a small scale, from farming co-ops to sites such as SQUIRT or even WickedFire to some extent - people give what they can, take what they need and the whole is much greater than the sum of its parts - however with larger groups of people ambition, greed and desire tend to get in the way.
