I doubt I'll find Nirvana... but I've seen the Foo Fighters a couple of times - does that count?

I used to think Buddhism was cool, but I like wanting things. We're just animals, and being without desire means having no purpose.

Wanting things is what drives me to become better. A better person, smarter, wiser, healthier, more informed, more educated, more accomplished, more skillful, more sensitive, more caring, more perceptive.

Without desire, what remains? Peace? Peace is just the absense of conflict, it's not a tangible goal.

I'm happy the way I am. I am not going to sit in a cave for 20 years and eat offerings from villagers impressed by my inner peace. I like having desires and goals and ambitions. I like the feeling of achievement.

Enlightenment doesn't equal detachment.
