Windows user for 15+ years . . .

OS X now - best of both worlds (linux/windows) but without the windows BS that gets in the way of what you are doing.

OS X runs pretty much any Linux command line stuff out of the box. A good portion of the linux "windowed" applications like GIMP, OpenOffice, etc, will run on OS X.

My decision was purely personal. I like spending my time on tasks directly necessary to complete my work, not tasks that need to be completed before I get to think about my work.

I found that OS X gets out of the way in a way that Windows never did and Linux hasn't mustered yet.

YMMV.
