Bone throwing time...

One of the few domains in that list that isn't going to expire in the next 60 - 90 days is SantaRadar.net

So, why the hell would someone want a Christmas domain in May? Well, to get top ranking for the right keywords by Christmas time, duh! Check this out:

The keyword "santa radar" gets around 477 searches per day, in the early part of the year!! Imagine how many searches it gets in late October - December. Now, let's look at the SERPs for "santa radar". On the datacenter I pulled up, #1 was NoradSanta.org, after that, there's not a lot of competition. Looking at Google using "allinanchor:santa radar" we see our buddy still #1, searching "allintext:santa radar" shows the number 2 site showing up as number one. So, number one and two are pretty entrenched. It may be tough to knock them out by Christmas, but maybe not. Worst case, with a little work, you'll be number 3.

What does number 3 for "santa radar" translate into money wise? Well, let me throw some rough estimates at you. First, we know that the 477 daily searches it's getting right now are really low compared to what it will be getting, so figure approximately 10 times that for the Christmas season (it's probably closer to 100 times, but we'll be conservative). That means about 5000 daily searches, at number three, you can figure you'll get around 1000 hits to your site.

Now, let's put a good offer up there...like, say...Letters to Santa. I'm not sure, but I think those usually pay pretty well, over $10 per conversion. BTW, PrimaryAds has a Letters to Santa campaign, but the bastards wouldn't approve me. Oh well, such is life.

Time for math...

1000 uniques per day
Targeted offer - converts around 8% (low, but I like to figure low)
Pays $10 per conversion
Equals about 80 conversions per day
Times $10 = $800 per day

Not bad. Granted, it's not going to make that much right now, but you should still be able to convert something. If nothing else, put up a different offer until Christmas time.
