OK, after much thought about what to do about that Kontera trademark I have decided the following. I'm going to build the slick little script on another domain and just avoid any legal shit alltogether.
What to do with ContentLinks.org - Links & Content meta-search engine? Well I still want to play ball here so I pumped out a quick meta-search engine on the domain and will use it down the road to push some link juice to the script. Perhaps I can just rank well for the phrase "content links" and never worry about the trademark.
Steps I took to build the site:
1. wrote the script. This script consists of 4 parts
- XML search results are scraped from 2 search engines on each page load, reordered & then delivered to the screen
- scrape some recent blogs on the search phrase for fresh content
- scrape google suggest for "Related Searches" available for each search term
- Drops adsense up top with a header of "Sponsored Results"
2. Entered the words "content" and "links" into the
google adwords tool. Each word returned 150 of the most popular searches related to that word. I downloaded the csv, combined the 2 & sorted by cpc. I took those words that I just got and seeded the site with them (see links on front page).
Thanks to the .htaccess rewrite and an sql backend, every page is static (location) and totally indexable by google, yahoo, etc. The end result of this little site will be a fully automated, 300-400 page site that's really nothing more than a big scraper site that was given some words to work with.
Now to get some pages indexed ...
