No matter how much retooling they do, I cannot imagine TAC ever being successful. There are two inherent problems I can point out right off the bat. First, it's boring as hell to watch people work on a computer. Second, how much drama can actually develop between players when they spend more time interacting with their computer than they do with each other? These two problems do not allow a viewer to develop an emotional attachment to the participants, which is an absolute must on any reality show. If you're not attached to the participants, you aren't going to care about anything they do on the show, be it earning cash, a "so what are your thoughts" interview, their downtime "fun", or any challenge.
Regardless of what they do with the production value of the show, it will continue to fail in its current format regardless of whether they bring in more noobs, or bring in seasoned, successful marketers. I don't want to see a $1M/month PPC guru type on a computer any more than I want to see a beginner.
