This is precisely why I own Ruger .22 (haha), a Mauser 8mm bolt action rifle (snip people from long distances.. hehe), double barrel over under 12 gauge shotgun, New England break action 12 gauge shotgun single shot (this shotgun kicks like a mule and laid me on my ass the first time I shot it), Marlin 30/30 Lever action (fuck yeah), Ruger Revolver, Walther p99, and lastly a 45 Colt. I'm still looking for more. If and when something like this happens I am fully prepared.
