Here's one for those of you with kids.

My son is always bringing home those annoying "fundraiser" pamphlets to raise funds for school. You know the one where you have to go around to all your neighbors or coworkers and guilt them into buying tins of popcorn or cookie dough? All because the kid just wants the crappy2 dollar prize that you got from raising 500.00 and only 10 dollars goes to the school? Yeah major soapbox of mine. My son never understands why we don't want to "help" others and why I always get so angry....

Anyways, here's the point. My neighborhood had a local drop off for the can food drive and we decided to go around and collect cans from the neighbors. We finally did the door to door thing, my son understood that this would directly benefit those who needed it, we didn't feel guilty ( I mean everyone has extra canned goods that have been in the pantry for who knows how long), it was good exercise, and it was fun!

We'll be doing it again soon.
