Well, it means 2 things - the website will be static and it will be SEO-based. Does money roll in instantly? No... it doesn't. In fact, I have the time to wait a fucking year to get some decent traffic. Any sweat off my back? None.
Am I competing against goliaths? Sure, and to split hairs further, let's also say every other website in existence is in competition with some other mega-goliath. I am not sure if you are under the impression that I am trying to chip away at someone's market share, but the idea is to make a content-rich site and see what keywords work and what doesn't work.
Sorry this isn't what you had in mind.

Even if I did change its direction, there aren't many more options with the domain name (hence my reluctance to change it), and I would rather not spend another $20 on another domain.

Some of us spend a few hundred a week on domain names. $20 is shit.
Ever hear of the term: Know when to hold em, know when to FOLD em.
Find a CPA offer, design a site around that AFTER researching the competition/clusterfuck of other advertisors.
Oh I get it now, you just wanted us to tell you how to monetize your dumbass idea. Here little boy, would you like a list of sites/keywords that convert like crazy on a popular offer?
