Yahoo searches grew faster than Google's in October

SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Yahoo Inc.'s Internet search traffic grew faster than that of its larger rival Google Inc. in October, although Google's share of the market remained more than twice that of Yahoo, according to a report from the research firm Nielsen/NetRatings. The number of searches on Yahoo (YHOO : Yahoo! Inc.
YHOO26.79, -0.12, -0.4% ) properties rose 30% from a year earlier to 1.46 billion, giving the company a 23.9% share of the market, the report said.

Google's
GOOG494.11, -4.68, -0.9% ) search count rose 23% to 3.02 billion searches, or 49.6% of all searches.
