Not sure what the doc prescribed but try to stimulate blood flow to the injury site. Ligaments are low vascular areas and typically take longer to heal. You can do somethings to help heal it faster. Since its in your leg try move it around and use the large muscles in your leg as much as possible. You have many large vessels that run down your legs and when you tighten your muscles it forces blood flow through your entire leg.

Also take some common aspirin or other anti-inflammatory medicine. This will thin your blood making it easier for oxygenated blood to reach the low vascular areas.
