I lived with my parents when I went to uni, and paid everything off as I went (had a part time job). But living with your parents is a whole different kind of slavery.
My degree though has served me absolutely no practical purpose. The only thing it did was help me get a visa to work in Japan. I've been here for 8 years, so maybe it was worth it, but I gave up 5 years of my life to get that degree.
Almost everything I learned in uni and still remember and make use of is stuff I learned in my free time in the library, just picking up books I found interesting.
