Hey,

Recently I've start using Facebook ad system alot. And to make our marketing efforts safer :) I've created cloaking script + service to collect and share facebook reviewers IPs (script using referers and IPs).

More details and instructions here:
* Facebook Cloacking Script with Daily Updated IP Database*by*Affiliate Marketing Blog

Hope you like it. If you have any question, suggestions post it here or on my blog.

P.S. I'm not native speaker so yes - my spelling is sucks. So don't be shy correct my mistakes. Thanks.

Don't must people cloak their campaigns via referral url when it comes to FaceBook? Since all reviewers arrive from the same referral url.

Yes but it's very different script. It's uses central tracking server to collect IPs from many users (who use this svript) and then share this info daily. So with this method you will "catch" much more IPs. Plus you will always get fresh version of DB. And it's very simple to install and configure. ;)

Ah, great idea. Will be installing this one soon.

I've since shifted all my effort to MySpace ads (where cloaking is a joke since they basically always come from the same IP), but I never had a problem with just looking at about 3-4 different referrers and 2-3 different hostnames with FB. 99% of the time I matched just on subsets of dev.facebook.com, review.php, intern, harvard, claremont, etc. And doing a reverse DNS on IPs, you'll hit tfbnw, area1.spcsdns.net, and a few comcast.net addresses. And actually it's essentially 100% cuz I can't remember the last time I didn't match when I tried.

Do you think you're overengineering this one with a central DB and what not? A one-line regex with all the different cases has done me well since I started FB ads in January.

But I do like when people share this info though, so props on that. =)

What is done to verify the IP's that you're collecting?

As I understand it, there's nothing stopping someone from feeding you a ton of IP's that aren't facebook's, say for instance the most commonly used IP's like major universities etc. and thereby killing the ROI for those running this script..

It use statistic information, count how many times each reviewer IP address was reported from different IP. The more ppl use this script the more accurate results will be, excluding fake "feeded" IPs.
