It is going out to all advertisers that used YSM it seems.

III. What Is This Class Action About?

This class action was brought in 2006 by several Yahoo! pay-per-click search advertising customers. They allege that customers contracted for targeted ad placements through two products, "Sponsored Search" and "Content Match" (and predecessor products provided by Overture Services, Inc. and GoTo.com, Inc.) and that Yahoo! breached its contract with its customers by allowing Yahoo! ads to be displayed in spyware, domain name parking sites (also known as bulk registration sites), pop-ups, pop-unders, and typosquatting sites. Plaintiffs brought claims for breach of contract, unjust enrichment, misrepresentation, civil conspiracy, and unfair business practices.

yeah I got this too. You can see it here The benefits section is pretty interesting...

A. “Ad Placement Option”
As a result of the Action, Yahoo! has agreed to develop and offer a new ad placement option (referred to in this Notice and in the Settlement Agreement as the “Ad Placement Option,” but which may have a different name once launched) that will enable Yahoo! Ad customers to control where their Yahoo! Ads appear.

I cant believe I just got this after what happened not even a week ago.

I launched a Yahoo Content campaign to do a quick test and everything was going great until all of a sudden I got 900 clicks in 20 minutes yet my prosper only showed 150.

20 to 30% is forgivable but this was out of control BS traffic.

When is Bahoo or Yahing or whatever its called going to happen already.

for a moment, my heart was in my mouth. i thought i got sued with Y's recent crackdown on those who violated G's trademark. then, i thought it was a fake email and deleted one of the two emails which landed in my spam box. finally i came upon this thread and realise it is real.

That's the same thing I thought! When I saw the emails in my inbox I almost got a heart attack. Then I read closer..

This looks like a lame settlement. Why did the advertisers settle for Yahoo just upgrading their system a little when advertisers paid for garbage traffic for a long time. I know I have paid for a lot of traffic from parked domain sites and what not.

I want some $$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$$

CJ class action lawsuit was better. I think I got $27 lol. In this settlement you get $20 only if you went out of business haha.

Fourthed! I thought I just got a C&D for my flogs.

lol same, thought i just had been sued for google monies stuff on ysm... well this is hilarious anyway, need to be out of business to get some money back- sorry, aint the case.

there should be more class action suits like this. apparently it was the only way to make yahoo move their ass to improve their advertising platform.

E. Refunds to Class Members who are Out of Business
Yahoo! will pay a $20 refund ("Refund") to eligible Class members who are out of business.

XI. How Will The Lawyers Be Paid? Will The Class Representatives Receive Service Awards?
Class Counsel will apply for attorneys' fees of $4,170,000, plus reimbursement of expenses of approximately $100,000, and for service awards to the three Class Representatives of $10,000 each. Yahoo! has agreed to pay those fees, expenses and service awards, in the total amount of $4.3 million, in addition to providing the other settlement benefits described above in Section VI. Attorneys' fees, reimbursement of costs, and service awards to Class Representatives must be approved by the Court.

Looks like we know who got most of the money.

You guys hadn't heard about this? It's been coming for a while.

I personally don't give a fuck about the suit. I just wanna know how they got my email address (twice).

Yeah, I was wondering the same thing. Yahoo jut can't get it right.......with the crap going on at Google you'd think they would take strides to pick up more affiliate marketing dollars.

I got an actual physical letter from the same thing only with Google couple months ago. The benefits didn't look worth the time commitment so I round filed it.
