As most of you know, I started selling WFReview (Review Plugin For Wordpress ? Powerful Review Software For Websites) back in January 09. Dozens of you bought it the first day and from there on out, we constantly improved the plugin.

Allowing you to add amazon.com style review ratings to wordpress posts is just a fraction of what the plugin can do.

I bought this plugins since it outcomes and it kicks ass (yup his sig says the truth). I use it currently on three live projects, two of them are for local german markets (yes it even works for foreign languages). I am building a huge review site at the moment and I am sure wfreview will help me make things more handy :-) The usability of this is plain easy and the outcome just fantastic. Hell I even use the plugin just for importing big CSV files without any troubles (not like other plugins, I got headaches from them)...

I never really used their support system but with this big review site I am sure I could need some assistance. I can't really judge on the support yet but if you look at the forums it just can be good.

So if you're into review kinda sites or just need one time CSV imports of any kind of data feeds you would be simply stupid not to buy this with the coupon code bb_wolf offers.

Getting EPN sites approved?

Some fundamentals:
Actual Whois with the same info that's on your EPN account
A QUALITY site with real information that drives the user to Ebay, not just a clusterfuck of auction listings (like all mine are!)
Lots more.

My honest review:
PROs:
- Good support to get you up and running, good user forum too
- Easily create sites using datafeeds
- Works with basically all wordpress themes and plugins
- Drip feed content over time
- GoogleMaps is cool

CONs:
- Dodgy upgrade system, no one knows when the next version will come out, what features it will have or whether current members will get it free
- Missing some advanced features of rivals such as content spinning, editor's rating, custom data, thumbnail image support and comparison tables
- CSV import can fuck up bad especially if you a are on a shared server without much RAM, and when it fucks up you have to do the whole thing again
- Not simple to integrate with EPN in fact there isn't really support, phpBay does it much better

Overall buy it if you whether you have time to nurture some local niche directories or want to go wild with some free databases and wordpress mu. Just expect it to be a magic formula, it's a good tool, but you have to learn to use it correctly.

Excellent review. Few inaccuracies though.

We notified all users via email (twice) of the upcoming upgrade, which will be released October 1st. It's also been in my signature here for weeks. What we're coming out with will be nothing short of kick-ass-amazing. Users have always received free upgrades, from day one. There is a pretty substantial thread in our forums with plenty of user feedback for features, and the emails asked that all feature requests be in by Sept 1st.

Few points. Our plugin fully supports comparison tables and lots of customers use them. We have themes bundled with 3.0 that include them.

100% of CSV import issues are related to the CSV file the user has. Not going into the entire scope, but garbage in/garbage out sums it up! CSV Importing of a few thousand records works flawlessly on a shared server and you're 100% right that importing 30K records is tough on a cheaper shared hosting account. But that's true for any software doing that volume on a shared hosting account. If you're going to run a national niche or heavily trafficked local niche directory, shared hosting isn't where you should be anyway. Anyone who does any volume in IM is on a VPS or dedi anyway.

EPN integration with PhpBay is fully supported and dozens of affiliates use it successfully. It's also one-click easy with our integrated templates. With the CSV import, it's almost impossible not to generate a site that will get approved, assuming a person puts some thought into the structure and niche.

Content spinning is beyond the scope of a review plugin.

Custom tags/images/custom fields are all 100% supported, have been since v.2

nice review larry, though i think the pros of wfreview got glossed over and the cons seem more significant than they should simply because you were more verbose there (a review of a review - lol!). i think bb does a great job addressing those, but thought i would share as both a user and plugin developer.

as long as this has been in bb_wolfe's hands, i've never been confused about upgrades. this is a fully supported and continually upgraded piece of software. i've heard about the updates in the forum, via email, and on this board.

the new feature set of wfreview is off the chain. looking forward to it!

if people are trying to do tens of thousands of imports on shared, they shouldn't be surprised w/ a hiccup. the plugin in my signature behaves better on a vps/dedi than on shared. like wfreview it works great on shared, but scales up nicely. that's an issue of hosting, not of a plugin.

re: content spinning. again, from a developer's perspective... i'm always open to feedback on feature requests, but those requests need to be within the scope of the plugin, else you get too diluted. i can appreciate a developer who limits that scope.

final note: support - between the plugin's forum and chat, bb has been great about supporting his software.

I watched the video (there is no sound btw at the last 5 minutes bbwolfe), and I realised this plugin is much more powerful than I thought. I got dozens of ideas for sites simply by watching what this thing can do. I am busy setting up my dedicated for now, but as soon as I unswamp myself I will give it a try.

I agree that issues do arise do to poor quality csv files being uploaded and I understand that running on a shitty shared server is the consumer's fault. My gripe is that if it goes wrong you have to start all over again.

True, but you make it sound like this program online offers easy noob EPN like phpBay. I agree it works well combined with phpBay

But content spinning of reviews you have to admit is a pretty nifty feature.

My apologies, I have some sites that are still on version 1 and now looking back I realise that custom tags are available in v2, very sorry.

Yea, damn logitech headsets have this big ass mute button. With 3.0 coming out so soon, I'm just waiting for that to drop before I rerecord. All video tutorials are being redone to 3.0.

No worries brotha! Content spinning would be killer, I totally agree. I just have no idea how I would approach that and offer a quality product. I'm sure someone eventually will come to market with a killer plugin/product like that (Datapresser comes to mind!) but I don't think I'm that guy. I am however, the guy for a new killer plugin, keep ears open!

What you said was very useful, especially to me. It told me that I need to more adequately communicate the scope of some features and add support resources for a few subtle elements of the plugin! Thanks Larry!

I wish the forum was more active. There's amazing things one can do with this plugin esp. with local search and direct ad sales (waiting for the new plugin). The cool thing about a community is that people come up with all sorts of ingenious ideas and point out innovative tools to do stuff.
The synergies between the now infamous SEO Empire Thread and using the plugin for database sites are all too obvious.

BB Wolfe do you think there's a way to point out sources for database content as well. As an example I was getting to know google's public data functionality as well as google squared (which allows you to export stuff in csv) operates...

If more people could share and contribute on the forum that would be great. I think sharpening the whole database/directory/direct ad sales b model on a place like the forum could add much value - IMHO....

Yea, we're going to start our own little Buy/Sell/Trade forum section for those who want to discuss brokering content, scraper requests, and database/CSV sharing. I'll launch that after 3.0 drops next week and let people know what it's for/invite friends to join.

I agree that the forum is a little dry after the summer, but there's two reasons (I believe) for that. 1) Most folks use it for tech support, and 2) most folks who run 10-30 sites don't like sharing ideas because it could potentially increase competiton.

The way we're growing (hugely fast!) we're going to have to spur some discussions, and after 3.0 drops, I think the chatter will increase a lot.

The content spinning doesn't have to be insane just the ability to write in jet spinner syntax would be killer.. your already supporing the CSV importing.. Why not let those CSVs do a little more good by allowing their surrounding content to vary?
