I fell behind WP's dev curve around 2.3 and never really got my brain wrapped around the taxonomy API. But now in 2.8 custom taxonomies are part of the admin interface rather than a programmer-level thing ... some very interesting potential for rapidly building directories and other similar sites.

That is very cool, much easier than building that kind of site with earlier versions, with all the custom fields crap.
 
I second that !
Very timely....have put up a few databases for sale here on WF and was looking to convert them into DB sites using wordpress....
cannot thank you enough !!

That's outstanding... I think I might redo some of my database sites in WordPress now. Having a common platform for all my sites would cut down on maintenance time; currently all I don't use WP for are database sites & ecommerce.
