Magento have 4 products; Community, GO, Pro & Enterprise. Only one of these is free.

Also the most interesting part of the buyout is that ebay are releasing their own "Open Ecommerce" platform called X.Ecommerce (can be found at x.com) which is powerd by the Magento Zend Framework. Who knows what will happen when this is released, think it's probably be the end of the free Magento community edition anyway.

That actually makes a lot of sense. If they are using the magento frame work then why not own it. Wouldn't want a competitor to scoop it up.

Totally agree, I think this will the worst case scenario having the community edition being payed maybe much more who knows? but lets just wait and see.

Magento is what sucks ass.. although its the best out there.. its buggy like hell.. and impossible to figure out and do most things. I hope ebay fixes that up.
