Wfexclusive TheUseful Bans WickedFire In The Office

A friend of mine told me about this, and then we had it confirmed a few minutes later.

I have nothing against The Useless really. Never worked with them. Never really spoke to anyone there about working together either. But it seems that a lot of their ex-employees like WickedFire because we don't moderate them for their opinions on TheUseless, and all of the troubles they've been having recently. It's more or less just entertainment for me, not really news, but hey, the more fun the better.

Anyhow, it is CONFIRMED now that The Useless has banned access to WickedFire.com from it's office location. So I'm proud to say that we are now in the ranks of FaceBook and Myspace for their employees on sites that they cannot access during work hours.

Big high five to them for it.. I'm sure this will backfire for them though and just open up a whole new can of worms. Goodluck though!

I'll bet some of our members can provide the employees with proxies so they can still surf at work!

Through my four years at high school I found much better ways of accessing blocked sites...

https Ecrypted Connections
Google Cache
Google Translate
snowgraveryard.com type sites
Browse by IP
TorPark
Proxy Plugins for FF
Web2Email (for really good filters that allow email access)
VPN to home computer.

These methods work for bypassing Websense. The things you learn in AP computer science when your teacher doesn't give you assignments.

I can understand why companies might block websites like Myspace and Facebook, but when they block the sites..if you have common sense it is pretty easy to get past them..using the methods mentioned above.

Not to be a dick, but I don't think that qualifies as so called 'industry news'.

They sound like they're driving off all their employees in droves. Failing to understand the nature of the internet's architecture seems like almost a foregone conclusion.

You guys should set up a reflector site on a different IP and email it to the known The Useless users. You know, just for fun. I'm sure their block is just an ACL or something, probably not content driven.

Sweet Wow they know how to block a site?

I'm surprised they figured out how to block the site. While I was there, nothing like that ever happened. I guess someone actually RTFM and did it right.
