I was just informed by my Rextopia account manager that blog and forum sites are no longer allowed to use Rextopia ads. The first thing that came to mind was that perhaps I was being singled out, that I had committed some sort of violation. My account manager said no, that Rextopia strives to be a leader in the market and that due to high levels of fraudulent activity by site owners Rextopia is changing their policy toward blogs and forums. I was led to believe that this could be a new policy that will be enforced by many if not all affiliate companies.
Have any of you heard anything about this issue? |

I just don't see why this is such a huge thing? Most affiliates on here don't use blogs or forums to promote affiliate offers, because it's the newbie/shady way to do things. I agree with Rextopia that getting rid of using blogs and forums as a way to promote their offers will raise the quality of their leads and sales for their advertisers. It's common knowledge. It's like when everyone said they wouldn't take Myspace spam traffic anymore.. duh! Because all that does is it invites the lesser more annoying affiliates to do stupid and shady things for their financial benefit and it just causes unnecessary crap between the advertisers and the network.

I have regular websites and a blog and forums site. My experience has been that I can make a lot of money with the blog and forums because I can more easily direct and manipulate attention to certain affiliate links. I don't think that it's very fair or accurate to categorize everyone who has dipped into blogs and forums as a means of income as newbs or shady.
I also think that there may be one or two people who post here who might be interested in this topic and might have some news about it. |

That makes absolutely NO SENSE at all a blog is nothing more then a content management medium. Ask them what specifically makes a blog because I can make a site that looks just like a regular website using WP. I'd tell them they're dumb as fuck and you don't want to work with them personally. If you site has daily posts and an rss feed is it a blog? If it's using wordpress but doesn't look like a blog is it a blog? If I code my own content management system that works like a blog is that blog? Dumb asses.

You should seriously consider running a 3rd party compliance consulting firm for all of the networks man, you rock at digging up and monitoring this stuff. Lord knows they need it!
