Fuckyeah AdSense Is FINALLY getting Competition!

I was one of the many who said Facebook Ads will be the first real competition for AdSense ads, and well, I was wrong.

Zuck drug his damn feet too long; Yahoo, Bing, and Media.net are jumping in the game right now!

Yahoo! Bing Network Contextual Ads powered by Media.net

Bing and Yahoo have put their advertiser network into the Media.net system... FINALLY, a targeted-ad system to (attempt to) rival Adsense!

If you're a Media.net publisher, you won't need the invite, otherwise go to that page above and request to join. Their email to me said 30-60 days is when they'll let us have access to the new inventory of ads, all served through the media.net system.

I was Ironically going to remove the last of my media.net ads out of my system this week for lower-than-ever performance. Guess I'll just pause them now and wait for this launch.

Man I've been waiting for this forever... So damn tired of Google's monopoly here.

So if these ads actually have a google-sized inventory and target well, do you guys think AdSense will raise their publisher payouts?

I wouldn't get all excited just yet. Media.net blows and who's to say the # 2 and # 3 engines will make it that much better?

Media.net has been a good # 2 for me but so has been Myspace.

I hope it work out for us but I'm not going to get excited and sleep better for the next 30-60 days.

Bing especially has some inventory though... I won't go sign for the porche just yet but If anything can compete with adsense besides FB in that arena, I'd think it would be Bing... And this is bing Plus Yahoo Plus media.net. Sweet.

Now, if only we could get Baidu onboard....

I find that hard to believe adsense will have a competitor anytime soon.

Don't get me wrong, I'd love to see this happen. It's just i've been let down way too many times in the past to get my hopes up for no reason.

They still do the media.net thing "only high volume sites, only English, only US and Canada traffic, only 5 sites per account"

How the fuck are they gonna compete with adsense that way?

Yeah for real. There needs to be a REAL competitor that actually challenges G rather than being a mere annoyance to force change in the market.

Um, I say this because I currently have 35 or so separate domains in one account @ media.net.

Perhaps that's a rule they've started more recently?

I got at email from my account manager and posted about this just yesterday in STS. I for one am very excited about this. IMO, media.net has the best blending ads that don't actually look like ads and more like site navigation. I have had service providers that I have ordered from in BST be like wtf couldn't tell that was an ad at all numerous times.

As for RPMs, they haven't been on par with adsense, but still sufficient for me for my niches. With Bing/Yahoo advertisers in their pockets now, that aspect should definitely improve.

Agreed, great looking ads... I just wish they'd let me post them willy-nilly all over tons of sites without submitting each one first for approval... Perhaps with the added inventory they'll be able to let that step go.

We'll see. They aren't accepting any new sites during the transition which kind of sucks, but whatever.

This would be a win-win for me.

Diversifying streams from my old seo sites, and hopefully increased impressions through BingAds contextual network for my ppc sites.

Actually, Adsense has resources thats why it is able to provide targeted ads getting help from Google search engine....... when Yahoo or Bing would defeat Google then their services would also be up.

they require to overlook every site that you want to put ads on it's not as lax as adsense...They dont accept autoblogs etc to be honest i would not spend my time building content and traffic to put second rate ads on my site. Media.net can kiss my ass till they loosen up their "Requirements", sending me emails stating if i earn $100 they will give me a bonus $50 makes them look like a shady cpa company...

Media.net is pretty strict when it comes to site acceptance into their network. Recently, I've tried to apply with a website that has unique and quality contents, but not much contents on it, they've rejected it.

Too early to tell. The sites target very specific supplements and revenue is comparable to Adsense.
