Ars Overview: Google to Wikipedia: "Knol" thine enemy

This was going to happen sooner or later. With all the traffic they're sending to Wikipedia it's only logical for them to begin diverting it to their own monetized content.

I don't like it. The beauty of wikipedia is that everything is in one page (sometime it might be more than one page but it will be linked from the root page)

Since no one knows everything about a single topic, all these knol will be incomplete. You might need to read 10 knol for the same amount of information in one wikipedia page

Google is becoming lot greedy and smart ... they really don't want amount of traffic that they send traffic to Wiki and I this is an attempt to just clone it and grab the cash.

With wikipedia and knol, we're no longer shooting for #1, but #3. And it seems to me that knol is much more like squidoo than wikipedia.

When is Knol coming life? And yes, the irony is that wiki have a article on Knol.

Also, it is hard to see how wiki can be displaced with the current proposed paid system on knol.
