Wfexclusive Department of Justice Investigates Google / Yahoo

Read an article the 23rd that said the Department of Justice is looking into possible anti-trust and collusion issues regarding recent tests conducted by Google and Yahoo.

To sum it up:
Tests (which are supposed to be going on and ending this week) between the two companies are showing Google's advertisements to Yahoo's users based on search terms.

Google and Yahoo make up ~ 80% of the search market.

This looks interesting. Anyone think there could be an issue here like Microsoft had? Set out on world domination of the operating system market?

Quote:
The initial Google and Yahoo test is small, covering only 3 percent of Web searches performed on Yahoo, the companies have said.

On a side note... I wanted to comment on how pussy-like this comment in the same article is making Steve Ballmer look like (after his letter to yahoo pretty much saying if your not coming with us, we are taking you down by a "share holder proxy vote")

Quote:
"We think the best way to move forward quickly is to come together with Yahoo," Ballmer said. "Hopefully that works. But if it doesn't, we go forward."

I guess Ballmer is still plotting world domination against Yahoo...

Forget what I said about pussy-like comments... I see they still have full intention on burning the village down and raping the women

Google + Yahoo will just be bigger Google. And whilst someone can try and file an antitrust suit, it's not like they're forcing the use of their services onto computers, like MS did with the PC market.
Yahoo + MSN will potentially pose a threat to Google by bringing together elements that both MSN & Yahoo suck at, which is online integration and software, respectively. I don't think the end product will be any good, but it will provide actual, although probably not serious, competition for Google.

I don't see why everyone reckons Google's going after the O/S market... They're way more interested in bare bones system on your desk that only connects to the internet, preferably to them, and acts as a cloud computer.
Makes it that much easier for them to know what everyone's up to because they have all your documents waiting for you.

Heh. Yeah, I think I won't be going for that option. People see my laptop. I don't want pr0n advertisements on the background
