Apparently Google has announced FriendConnect - which will be a more kickass version of MyBlogLog - in their quest to take over the universe.

The site isn't live yet, but once it is, they will be accepting limited applications to the beta service at: Google Friend Connect

I'm going to try and snatch up an "invite" early in case they really are limited and I'll report back when I learn. This looks pretty cool in the grand scheme of things.

I'm quick like The Flash! And also, I doubt I'll get it, the blog I pointed to pretty much sucks. But, getting in and having a leg up on folks would be pretty cool.

I agree, Google is really aggressive in everything they do. Not sure if I'll be able to incorporate this into some of my current sites but it'll be interesting to see how people incorporate this into their pages.

From what I've seen G tests everything, and I imagine that this signup is another test. So if you want to see an alternative to MyBlogLog (as I do), go sign up , tell others to do so, and it will happen.

This is actually going to be good news in the grand scheme of things. A credible competitor like google will add innovation to this space. Would be nice to see another decent size player here...
