Uh...Kevin Rose is hardly broke. He may not be as rich as people think, but he owns 30% of Digg and Digg makes about $3 mill a year in ad revenue + plus he'll get 30% from the sale of the company.

I thought that digg still relied on angel funding to keep operating because its add revenue wasn't enough yet. That would really hinder how much money Kevin could make off of it at the moment. Revision3 on the other hand...

Bandwidth, redundant servers and other supporting infastructure costs worldwide. Management, Sales, Marketing and Development staff. Office space + equipment + legal.

Including taxes/insurance, you'll be lucky if staff costs are less that 133k per head * 20 is already $2.6m for a year. They probably have more staff than that combined with all the other expenses it's very easy to burn through the cash.

Bandwidth costs are also pretty huge, ffs look how many sites get crushed being on the Digg front-page.

Actually, this is one of my greater fears.
Digg works nicely for some of the physical products I push, particularly nerd oriented ones... The possibility of Digg slaps actually freaks me out a bit.
