New search engine ChaCha allows you to search with a guide. Check out this story from ABC.
If you're interested in becoming a guide, PM me or email me at: webmaster /at/ pornogothica.com |

Looks like it needs A LOT of work. The navigation is very awkward and slow.
Haha, I'm having a great convo with my guide though... I asked her how much she was being paid and the conversation stopped ![]() Great idea, I can see it being helpful for the elderly and such. Just needs tweaking. P.S. - what are you paying these guides?

It's no get rich quick scheme, that's for sure. The pay is $5 per search hour, but where it gets good is when you hit the "Master" level, you can recruit others (as I'm trying to do
) and you get 10% of what they make. I see potential as it is very new, and there are only a couple thousand guides right now. They expect to have upwards of 50k within one year. Whether or not that will happen, who knows. So, to me it's just a numbers game. Get a bunch of people in your network, and make a residual income off of them. Could only be $5 a day, depending on the size and activity of your network, but $5 a day for a business that isn't costing me money in hosting and advertising is better than $5 per day in adsense from a site that has more of a monetary investment. Oh yeah, you can make it to "Master" level in a few hours. |

Didn't check out the site yet... but it sounds like an "on demand" version of Google Answers... good concept but, if the search engine ever gains popularity, you're talking about a RIDICULOUS amount of "guides" or really really long wait time for searchers.
As a concept, it makes great sense. Thinking logistically and financially, I don't think it will work all that well. If this idea was fine-tuned, and there were GUIDES for a specific NICHE... like a search engine specifically for people looking for homework help (i believe these exist) then I think it could hit the money. Goodluck.

And the engine makes their money from the adsense ads they are delivering?
Do they ask the guides to have the users click on the ads at all?

Something to remember whenever searching with ChaCha right now, they're still in the Alpha stage of testing. Even though it's live, they are nowhere near where they want to be. Also, because it's still so new, the guide application is a little buggy and can cause searches to take longer or can cut you off completely. I think that you should see some huge improvements in both guides and their technology in the next few months. Either way, it's worth keeping an eye on. ~Mike~ |

It is also very spamy and filled with ads. If you type in something that isnt chacha-d you get a page full of google and other ads. |
