wasnt their argument that they're not within the US so they have no need to comply with US law?
too bad ICANN and Verisign hold all the domain records

Interesting.

Never really considered it, and my first impression is it will not happen, but I am not sure of the policies related to judgement collection and domain names. Not sure they have any right to collect the name as part of a judgement.

George, they could not re-register it as it would be given to the person who sued them and got a default judgement. I am still very skeptical that this would actually happen, but who knows.

Who knows if it will actually happen?

There will be a big political battle on it because the internet is like international waters.

May be I'm evil, but I find that pretty amusing. What he should do is put it up for auction and send the proceeds to the plaintiff.

apparently ICANN has said they can't just turn off/hand over the domain....we'll see what happens next.

i agree that the original Illinois court doesn't have jurisdiction on this, but apparently Spamhaus sent a lawyer to argue this should be a federal court issue so it was bumped up to that level. now they are arguing they aren't bound by the federal courts decision. you can't have it both ways...
