Question Yahoo's earnings dropped 38%...

So should they open up YPN for everyone now so you don't need an invite?

Since google's big earner is advertising dollars...

I haven't used YPN but that came to mind when I read this article.

Their shareholders are crying in their soup right now.

YPN needs to go out of beta and spread out to other countries. And YSM needs a huge interface overhaul.

What I really want is Microsoft to put up a bigger fight, and hopefully compete head to head with Google for contextual ads.

I love the 360 but MS needs to stop fucking with video games and start something that can make me some money.

I just want YPN out of beta so in the near future when I'm ready to start with YPN I don't need an invite...bastards.

MS has a ton of money, but they have a serious case of ADD. They need to focus their efforts on doing well in few things, rather than just ok. Especially when it come to search.

Yahoo is being just plain lazy and stupid right now, so if MS worked hard i bet they could overtake them.

It's funny you say that. The initial phases of "Panama" were just released today:

I heard Yahoo! was going to buy WickedFire for 1.7 billion to counteract Google buying YouTube.

By the way if someone wants to write up that press release, and release it as a means of getting Wickedfire some pub... feel free to use the idea.

1.7 billion for the greatest minds in the industry would be a steal.

So, google's earnings rose 92%. Revenues increased 54%.

Google is kicking Yahoo's ass.

I think google adwords advertisers are gonna get real tired after a certain point of seeing garbage clickfraud clicks and nigeria/ukraine/romania clicks and mvoe to yahoo which I found to offer a much higher ROI. Just a matter of time.

How exactly are adwords advertisers getting clicks from nigeria/ukraine and romania without specifically asking for them?

yeah, i believe advertisers can specify which region to advertise to...and most arbitrage clicks arent actually THAT bad. i would think they convert about as well as a normal click would convert. Are you an advertiser that knows first hand that yahoo converts better? and if advertisers ever made a mass move to yahoo...arbi's would quickly follow
