SAN FRANCISCO (MarketWatch) -- Yahoo Inc.'s Internet search traffic grew faster than that of its larger rival Google Inc. in October, although Google's share of the market remained more than twice that of Yahoo, according to a report from the research firm Nielsen/NetRatings. The number of searches on Yahoo (YHOO : Yahoo! Inc.
YHOO26.79, -0.12, -0.4% ) properties rose 30% from a year earlier to 1.46 billion, giving the company a 23.9% share of the market, the report said.

Google's
GOOG494.11, -4.68, -0.9% ) search count rose 23% to 3.02 billion searches, or 49.6% of all searches.

IAC InterActive Corp.'s (IACI : iac interactivecorp com new

IACI34.06, +0.22, +0.7% ) Ask.com unit saw its search traffic jump 25%, although it accounted for just 2.8% of the market. Microsoft Corp.'s (MSFT

MSFT29.83, +0.43, +1.5% ) MSN unit was the only one of the top five search providers to see its traffic fall, dropping 8% from a year earlier. MSN's search market share in October was 8.8%, according the report released Monday.

Although I am rooting for Yahoo, google will eventually dominate virtually all search by the end of the decade. Sorry to say, but it is true.

Yeah, Yahoo is going to die a slow painful death, and it's their own fault.

I would absolutely love to spend the same amount of money on yahoo as I do on google, but Yahoo won't take it. They are stupid idiots over there.

23.9% of yahoo looks amazing to me, as I never ever met a person in real who would use yahoo for other than mail. Also, most of the natural SE traffic I see is coming from google. Googling is a synonym for searching, so there you have it.. Yahoo is so past days in my book.

psytek has a spectacular aura about
The reason Yahoo will drop from the search engine race is because of their biased results whereas Google’s generic search is completely unbiased and that is the reason Google is everyone’s favorite search engine. If incase you are looking for any proof then just search for “failure” in Google and check which website in on the top results.
