This change applies only to the Associates programs in North America. If you are conducting paid search activities in connection with one of Amazon’s Associates Programs outside of the US and Canada, please refer to the applicable country’s Associates Program Operating Agreement for relevant terms and conditions.

So unless you are getting shitloads of type in traffic like this fool here hxxp://www.tools.com you are basically fucked.
Then again, who promotes amazon through ppc with their one day cookie or whatever the fuck it is. Suuure you can get some really niche items that convert with no competion ... but well, seems like someone was cleaning up through amazon and they had enough.
Those are my thoughts, its 6 in the morning and i need some coffee.

But surely you can still use PPC to get traffic to your Amzon landing pages and then let the user click-through if they wish?

This is referring to direct linking only, right?

actually amazon is/was one of my more profitable low spend ppc campaigns. I'd pick a book or cd and just pick that keyword.... low bids, etc..

not worth it if I have to build a lander though.
