I actually can't believe this thread wasn't deleted, it was an obvious sales page for TrafficVance.

and FYI, it was less than 15,000.

Sorry, you're right. I didn't really look into it.

Interesting news though anyway.

Removing OPs link, here's the press release:

This is actually good news.

For affiliate marketing to grow we need to spot BS scams. We fucked up a free trial sales model that could of been awesome.

It's just too easy for some random broke ass advertiser to start up a rebill scam that's $0.10 EPC higher than the other. Since this is such a competitive space, affiliates have no choice but to gobble it up.

Back on topic though I don't think mass banning will help here. Networks need to help affiliates transition into this change You can't just tell thousands of affiliates to piss off (eventhough some of the bigger offenders should) and expect them accept it and come back.

Only surprised it took this long. Now only the ad networks need to follow this and AM will have bright future.

They didn't tell the affiliates to fuck off. They removed the one's which had broke rules in the past and the ones that were not active for x amount of time.

Hydra made a business move to clean up their network and traffic. They dumped the same people that anyone should dump. Black hat, click fraud, etc. etc.. This stuff just doesn't go unseen anymore. Networks have to pay attention to the quality of traffic, it's either dump the garbage, or close shop.

I think that Hydra made a good decision for the future of their business, I have always liked Hydra network and I think that this speaks volumes about their devotion to customer service.

This is good. Get rid of the dirty affiliates who give AM a bad rep. Also, isn't Hydra's minimum requirement $10k per month now?

I think that this is clearly a very good thing. The CPA networks need to clean up to be sustainable because of all the BS traffic that people are sending them.. And yes this will mean that it will be harder to get into the CPA game, but this is only good as only people with knowledge will be able to profit from this game.
