Zynga Gunning Up (And Lawyering Up) For War Against Facebook With Zynga Live
Looks like Facebook is burning bridges left and right. If Zynga does leave it will surely leave a huge gap in Facebook gaming. Question is, are they ready to pull the plug?

There are plenty of games still on Facebook.
Farmville is relatively new. Mafia Wars has many look-alikes out there. So, it's not a big loss to Facebook. It's when you start seeing the Poker games leave that you have to worry. I'd expect many small firms pushing their games more since Zynga is pulling out. |

However, those games would probably not be as popular with FB. So it's one of those tough situations trying to balance the equation without biting the hand that feeds you.

These games became so popular because people could post about the games on their live feeds and their friend's walls. Now that FB shut that down they have lost a significant portion of their marketing design. All of these games exist outside of facebook already, but the live feed storm from farmville got people curious who otherwise wouldn't have played these games. If Zynga doesn't have the live feed capacity it is going to be hard for them to ever see the volume of users they were previously seeing. Love the evolution of facebook games and hope it keeps expanding to much more complex games other than farmville.

As an Arm Chair Quarterback Zynga needs to setup their own feeds and standalone to start taking user-base from facebook and push it over to zynga's properties . Facebook has way too much control over Zynga. Facebook's best move would buy-out or buy a rival company of zynga, similar to what google does everytime(i.e. google video youtube buy). But I dont think Facebook could manage a profitable company they still cant figure out their own shit.

Zynga's distribution of their new 'toolbar' will be a helpful tool if they do cut ties with FB...
IMO, Facebook should be paying Zynga for their ability to bring in users and raise FB's impressions...I bet when you look at my post count, it only validates how correct I am |

I don't see zynga's leaving facebook as being detrimental to facebook.
Sortof the same reason why the drug war is pointless... If they kill zynga today, I will open up shop tomorrow.

Less time spent on Farmville and other applications = less time spent glancing at our fb ads. This concerns me far more than whether people are dumb for playing the games or not.
Personally, I don't really want to see them go. I, too, like the poker app .
