Checkthisout Bankrate spends serious cash

Bankrate just bought Netquote and CreditCards.com. They raised about $350 million in debt to make these big time purchases.

Bankrate keeps on killing it.

They're up and down the scale too -- they buy everything from the nine-figure sites to generic industry domains. I would imagine that Bankrate, Experian and Bank of America all know more about the domain industry than most of the pople on domaining forums.

They paid $15 million for Bankaholic -- actually an inspiring story given that the site was started by a 19-year-old kid and sold three years later.

They also bought CreditCardGuide.com, another finance-related website for $32,000,000 a few years ago. I remember reading an article on the SEO Book blog saying that the site had only 2,000 backlinks at the time of purchase, making the value of each backlink $17,000+
