You are aware of course that these sites have nofollow links from the profile out to the money site right? I mean this might be nice for reputation management but its basically worthless for linkbuilding to the actual money site.
 
^ they aren't all no-follow. It's up to you to choose. And no-follow may not pass Page Rank juice, but it passes other ranking signals. Just ask which are which. I just ordered a Scribd like a boss.

I've got statistics and experience that prove otherwise (both my own and my clients).

Also, not all of the profiles are nofollow.

There are multiple benefits of having high PR social profiles.

1. Let's take the case of YouTube. Your videos will outrank other videos in your niche (SERPS), since your YT profile will have a higher PageRank than most of your competitors.

2. The added benefit of having more than one type of ranking in the SERPS is compounded when you own several high PR social profiles. Anytime you post anything on one of these highly ranked social sites, your content will outrank most off the bat. Along side your money site.

What am I getting at? You can potentially control more than 2 spots for a particular term (top 10 results). I've been able to control 6-8 spots at one time for highly competitive niches by having high ranking web 2.0s ranking right next to my money site. In the end, the web 2.0 sites pointed to my money site anyways, driving nearly 80% of the traffic there, whether directly from the SERPS or indirectly as secondary clicks.

3. There are social signals that get passed that are measured, even if Pagerank is not FULLY measured. I want to emphasize on this one aspect. Pagerank may not be 100% pass through, but even 1% is better than 0%. If nofollow truly meant that no indication of ranking, then Twitter, Facebook, and several social media accounts would not be utilized to help boost rankings and authority.
