In what sense? If it's just for tracking then probably not because it's going to redirect to your landing page domain, or offer page. If you are trying to rank a site then it makes a big difference like said above.
I personally just set up P202 on a domain that I abandoned.

OP - some of the responses here baffle me.
Anyway - you can use whatever you want for your prosper domain. You can even put it on a subdomain of one of your domains. Also - If you are direct linking, you can do this through prosper, but don't have to. Search for redirect or double meta refresh code. Basically, you can have your link go through any other domains you control (and still track via prosper). A lot of this will have to do with what referer you want to be shown.

The SEO responses. It seems like a lot of these guys are trending towards SEO, so they assumed your question was SEO related.
On tracking - make sure to add "[[subid]]" w/o quotes to your aff link. Then go to your network and grab the subids for your converted clicks, and upload these subids to prosper. This is the safest way. Alternatively, to make it easier, you can also give your prosper pixel to your affiliate manager, and the conversion will show up automatically (ie no need to upload subids).
