I ran a successful music business in my high school and college years where I recorded and mixed for others and myself. I sold all kinds of merchandise for my own music, etc. And in the merchandise, and in the equipment, I started off buying the cheapest stuff possible to increase profit margins. This is stupid.

Even now, let me tell you my story of the past half year real quick. I started by renting a crappy server and using public proxies. Buying cheap again. And it was nothing but frustration, especially as my standards increased. I paid for all kinds of software that the top dogs are using, but for some reason I wanted to skimp out on the recurring costs. Here is my advice to the noobs:

Figure out if you are really doing this or not. If the answer is not a complete YES, then just keep dicking around until you quit or the answer becomes a solid yes. If this is how you plan on living, earning, and breathing, then quit hesitating and quit wasting time. So much of the algorithms include age, so the sooner the better.

Basically I'm saying, quit renting the shitty 1/2 GB RAM 1.5 GHz server. Get the damn 2.2 GHz with 4 GB of RAM. Pay for the bandwidth upgrades if needed. Get what you need. Public proxies are good enough for some things, but not the things that are going to equate into money. Get some private proxies. I'm watching my screen now and my success rate of posting blog comments is up 300x or so. That is zero exaggeration.

Quit fucking around. Scoop your nuts up and spend some money. Take care of business, if thats what you intend it to be. Don't compromise at all. You know what you need. Nothing less will work.

Thanks for this. I needed to hear it. I've been using a cheap server and it's killing me.

I'm really starting to notice the difference that spending an extra little bit of money can make.
