Hey guys, starting a journal to chronicle my progress as delve into affiliate networks, internet marketing, and PPC/PPV.
Spent two years doing e-commerce through drop-shippers and Ebay flipping, and I'm ready to start stacking some real money. Months worth of reading warriorforums, cpafix, and digitalpoint forums, ebooks, and blogs. Went through the Challenge and learned a little SEO, but mostly learned what information I needed so I could use the forums to get it. Used outsourcing to make a second site and flipped it, not bad but not stellar. Dove into Clickbank, Pay Dot Com, and Commission Junction and didn't do terrible. Good, but not great. So here I am. I've joined a few affiliate networks, talked with a few AM's, and decided to pick up a dating offer on the advice of one of the AM's on a network I think I can trust. I'm 99% certain I'm annoying the piss out of him with stupid questions. That's ok, I'll pay him back where it matters once I master this. I'm starting this journal to chronicle my path for my own progress, and hopefully for the benefit of others. I've advertising on pof. In an attempt to learn from the mistakes of others, I'm attacking a pretty narrow section of the traffic. I'm bidding a little higher than the suggested, but set my daily limit very low. I've set 6 ads to the same link for split testing. My ads are probably rubbish. I'd rather know right off, pull it, change it, and repost it. Each one will receive approximately 4000 views before it stops. Maybe I'm being too tentative. Feels like I should go faster with more exposure and test a higher amount of views. We'll see, at the moment I'm just going to keep assuming I don't know shit and trust my AM and authoritive posts here and a few other places. Waiting for my ads to be approved. It sucks. At this point I only know three things
That's it for today. |

Today I am full of fail.
Ads were denied around noon. Changed them and resubmitted. (POF requires a call to action to directly relates to the offer. Not a general one) From 2 until 7 the campaign ran. Each ad received 4000 views. Only one had any clicks and it only had two. No conversions. I've made 5 more and tweaked the successful one. I'm going to make my targets a bit more broad on the five new ones, but keep my narrow focus on the one that met with a tiny bit of success. I'm down $12 today. (OMG I'M FUCKING BROKE NOW!!) |

Yesterday was better, Talked with a number of women I know and got some pointers about why they or their friends would use a dating service. I made 6 new ads, tweaked 2 of the previous ones and put them up.
4k views to each one, 3 had a 0.07 CTR and CPC of $0.35. No Conversions, but a big improvement. My AM tells me 10%-15% Conversion rate is normal. Today I am going to let the 3 more successful ads run all day and burn some money to get enough clicks to increase see some conversion. I scrapped 2 of the other ones that haven't been performing, and tweaked the other 3. Going to let the reworked ones run for 4k views again and see how they do. Probably tweak them a couple times through out the day. One thing I have enjoyed yesterday is the ability to tweak and tweak an ad multiple times in a day. After 4K views if nothing is going on, no reason to leave it there. |
