Read and read, honestly find blogs that contain good information and see what aspects of them that you like and also you would improve on as that should be the area to focus on.

-the procedure and the basic knowledge?
If you know wordpress that is the way to go, you can find a free one or one with links in the footer its up to you but you can start off with a review theme.
-what are the basic ingredients?
Be willing to fail, understand your blog or site will not be a overnight hit but that you will need to create unique content that has good keyword density along with 500+ words that can captivate an audience. Next you need traffic to your site, use facebook, youtube, twitter and even yahoo answers to get traffic to your site and if you can afford SEO services such as link building that is a plus as well. Hope that answers some of your questions.

you better start with wordpress, that's the most newbie friendly platform, and for everything you need you'll find the right plugin to do it. You can create the content yourself or hire a writer, follow the SEO basic, onsite and offsite (you can use some really good seo plugins that can help you). make it look good and reliable, not spammy, think of the both the user and the SE

I think the best way is to go to hostgator and get a reseller account. You can set up many many domains on this, each with it's own CPanel and wordpress install.

Doesn't have to be host gator but yeah wordpress is your best option.

You are chosing the keywords which are already used by many others.... be unique in your content dude and whatever you do in the start it counts so try making your content the best one and keep it away from impurity, good luck

You have to find a good hosting company first, I suggest Hostgator, they have website making programs like Basekit SiteBuilder, Wordpress is pretty hard for beginners, Basekit Sitebuilder is practically just drop and drag lol.

Find out what attracts readers and such, get a Google Adsense, get approved and you'll be on your way.

Well, to publish a website on the internet, you would need to register a domain name, purchase a hosting plan, and designing the website (or get it done by a pros). Using Wordpress is a great alternative to designing your own website.

Like everyones is saying wordpress is the best place to start but don't expect results overnight. Cost outlays:-
Domain name - $15 for 2 yr registration
Web hosting - $5 /month (if you think you might start multiple sites consider a VPS)
Wordpress - Free
Google Webmaster Tools - Free
Google Analytics - Free
A good book on php/mysql - $5
Notepad ++ - Free
Image editing software for designing logos etc. - Probably free

Process:
1. Register a domain and setup webhosting or VPS
2. install wordpress (some hosts provide wordpress pre-installed = easy)
3. make it look pretty
4. stick in some adsense banners so you are making money from the start
5. type up some good content
6. download a sitemap.xml generator plugin
7. login to Google webmaster tools and submit the sitemap
8. Keep producing great content.
9. Look at other ways to get traffic i.e. guest blogs, links, seo, paid traffic etc.
10. Wait for Google to start moving you up the SERPs

If you want some stuff to read, google "setting up wordpress", "php basics", "wordpress 101", "adsense optimisation wordpress", "seomoz", "seo by the sea", "increasing blog traffic".

Should keep you busy for a bit. Good Luck!

Hi Forman,

I completely agree with our friends here that Wordpressis indeed one of the most useful tool you can use in order to set up your website.
Since you already got all tips i, this thread, next step if I could advice you is to also create your mobile website.
People are more and more reading things via their smartphones, and they usually appreciate a well implemented mobile website !

i have no sites of my own but my experience tells that a little knowledge on wordpress/coding is required for building a site, and building is not the only thing maintaining and updating is all what matters the most along with an elegant touch.

Hosting:
webair, dreamhost, hostgator, amerinoc,... all offer small virtual accounts. Should be enough for a beginner. (price: less than $10 / month).

Some of those companies like dreamhost for example have 1-click installers for popular scripts like Wordpress.

Registrars:
Namecheap, godaddy, webair, name.com, moniker,...
Price for a .com: less than $10 / year.

WYSIWYG (What you see is what you get) HTML editor: Kompozer (free).
In case you want to build your own static html pages instead of using a CMS (contnet Management System) like wordpress.

Time:
is something you'll need. You won't get rich over night.
Ask yourself: "Why am I doing this?" Are you looking to make a career out of this? Is it just a hobby? Are you passionate about the products you'll be reviewing? Or did you pick the subject because you think it's popular and you hope to get a lot of visitors? Do you think you'll have enough time (on a daily and weekly basis) to review enough products so you'll have a sufficient amount of content to keep your site fresh? This was maybe not the advice you were looking for but don't simply discard it. Of all scarce resources we have, time is, without a doubt, the most precious one. learning a new set of skills takes time. Diving in head first without knowing where you want to go will make you waste a lot of it.

still seems like your experience speaks well to me, coding is kinda irritating sometimes so wp suits me in all ways

+ to what everyone has said is that you will learn a lot more by doing rather then reading.

That way every time you come across something you want to do, you'll go out on to the web and find how to do it and then apply it.

Best way to learn rather then just going over aimless tutorials IMO.
