For 30$ I will try it out, just to do the install work is worth it for me on my hosting. Though I wonder if he is backdooring anything in the code. Not really enough people checking back in. Better put him on his own IP

Alright, I haven't checked out the links in the above posts but I'll quickly sum up a WPMU installation tutorial ...

Preparation
- Get a Good FTP Program, and learn how to CHMOD files.
- Create a Database, Create a Database User Account... Add the account to the Database with all the privileges.
- Download and Unzip WPMU

Upload and Configurations
- Upload all files to the root directory of your domain.
- Create a blank file .htaccess and CHMOD it to 777 (If your host has .htaccess writable then this won't be needed, but if it doesn't then this trick saves you a lot of trouble)
- CHMOD your domains root directory (Mostly public_html) to 777
- Also CHMOD your wp-content directory to 777

The Installation
- Access your domains root by going to domain.com
- It should ask you for your SQL details, enter them.
- When you Proceed, Wordpress will try to connect to your database, if it is successful it will take you to a page where it asks for your Website domain, your website name and your email. Enter and Proceed.
- On the next page you should get your access details for WPMU, which includes a username and a randomly generated password. Save it for further use.

The Aftermath
- CHMOD public_html and wp-content directories back to 755.

Congratulations, you just successfully installed Wordpress Multi-User

so i just got this email from hostgator, what should i do?

We have received a complaint regarding the domain, .com You are apparently copying rss feeds from another realty site. Below is the complaint. Please act accordingly.

A site owner of http://.com is hijacking my RSS feed for
http://www.TexasRealtyBlog.com. I get a lot of traffic to the site,
so it appears that this person is trying to drive some of it to theirs.
1. The owner does not include contact information.
2. It's a straight publication of my RSS feed, including de.licio.us
bookmarks.
3. There is no link back to my site.
4. There is no full post of my blog articles.
Please take this site down, as it is violating my intellectual
property rights and there is no way to contact the owner directly.

Get OFF that shit of a host ASAP.

Host Privately with people you know for such sites. Or better yet get your own VPS.

Donot Copy RSS feeds directly from other blogs, rather use news sources like Google news, topix and the likes.

Thanks for the tutorials great info as usual from here. I will start to look over all the info I just got a hosting special offer for half price for a year $35 for 10 gig. space not sure if special is still open. I got the new hosting just for this WPMU project will use a domain I have been using on and off for about two years now a pr1 or 2. I have been looking for a way to create many sites with one domain for a long time. I was going to give hypervre a try but this thread came to save my day thanks again.
