So I got to thinking about PPC and Holidays, and I'd love to hear some of your thoughts regarding the following:
Do you find that during the major western holidays, the days themselves, - Thanksgiving, Christmas - that your conversions tend to go down or up? I've wrangled myself into a fuss because I can think of reasoning for both down and up answers. Down because during the actual holiday itself people are with family, etc, have already made most of their purchases for at least a few days. Up possibly because people are in a 'spend mode' and might not be as inhibited to make 'frivolous' purchases. I could certainly imagine the day after Christmas being a good day for PPC (not to mention Black Friday) - young people (well, any age really) with cash gifts burning a hole in their pocket. Then again, all those stores closed Christmas day might have the right idea - we all know it's not because the owners are stoked to give their employees a day off. So what do you do? Pause your campaigns for the day or let them blaze through with good results? Thanks much, sorry this wasn't worded more articulately but hopefully you got the idea. |

We always see traffic and conversion drop around Thanksgiving and Christmas. Conversions drop a little, but traffic drops significantly.
There are many reasons, not only including what consumers are doing, but also what other media companies are doing. Get ready for a huge January! |
