Seo Quick question on creating a mini-network

Say I wanted to set up a dozen sites to do with niche X, the idea being to create a mini interlinking network, to help with search results. Now each site would have its own domain name, but would all be hosted on my same account - so they would have the same IP address. Are the search engines going to recognize that I own these 12 interlinking sites and bitch slap my SERs for it, or does it matter that they will be all on the same IP address?

Yessir, yes they will. Sites pass less link juice when they're on the same IP. Some say even on the same /255 block of IPs.

Stanley Stanley Stanley Stanley Stanley Stanley Stanley Stanley Stanley Stanley Stanley
You can get away with it if you interlink it properly.
A->B->C->D....

or..

A->B
C->B
D->B

So I just want to be careful not to link each site to every site on my network? Each one should only link to one other?

My experience is that Google will ban them all pretty bloody quickly, even if they don't all link to each other.

Really? So Google will ban sites on the same IP? Does that mean all sites on shared servers will be banned pretty bloody quickly?

What makes you say what you just said?

I had about 20 sites on reseller hosting and linked them as Stanley said:

A->B
C->B
D->B

They all got banned within a couple of months of publishing them as did a couple of other sites of mine in a different niche which were clearly not related but on the same IP.

It's just my experience. Maybe I was unlucky. All I know is that I won't be linking my sites like that again.

I've got 26 domains on the same account right now. One of them is totally ignored by G no matter what I do, but the rest are fine with 9 absolutely thriving. They all have at least 2 links to each so it's not totally obvious, but as soon as I can afford it I'll be upgrading to a server.

That is crap.
If you linkfarm it, there's a chance. But there's a difference between a linkfarm, and interlinking sites within a niche that have real contenet.

I also had another 10 sites banned from the same IP which I made for Nouvelle Star, which is the French version of American Idol. They all had decent content and were interlinked because there was one site for each of the 10 contestants, so it made sense to link them. Anyway, they got banned after about 8 months.

Did they have inbound links aside from eachother? It's always a crap:quality ratio.
Either way though, different IPs are important.

They didn't have that many inbound links, definitely more crap than quality

Keep your main domain only and work on with one. There is no need to have a lot of domains pointing to themselves. Just buy one and donate me the rest of the money. XD

Also, you can use wordpress and blogger, etc. to add to your network. Sure, youre limited on what advertising you can throw on them, but your main goal should be driving your main site higher.
