Checkthisout How stuff works

When you get a chance, check out How Stuff Works.

This site explains things in simple terms and also has ilustrations that are easy to follow. Its great for us newbies.

For example you can search for "web server". Go past the featured sponsors and go to How Stuff Works and click the title of interest. Once there, find "table of contents" and you can choose how "web server" is explained to you, for example-introduction, basic process, behind the scenes, etc. Its great for lots of topics besides computer stuff. Auto stuff, science stuff, and money stuff are some of the other topics they have.

You are welcome. What is old to some is new to others! So, since you are familiar with it, what do you think of the site for a newbie learning how internet things work?

I had a "how stuff works" book when I was a kid. It was cool, I remember reading things like how brakes work. There was always this stupid wooly mammoth thing in the graphics though.

I remember (years ago) seeing that site way before it was sold and became what it is today. The old site was well organized and had way less advertising.

I think this site can be a limited resouce for newbies. I only found a couple articles that would pertain to people in here (For example one on how search engines work, how digg works, internet marketing, banner advertising). Some articles were helpful in getting the lingo down and the general gist of how things work. Other than that dont expect things layout in a way that is very reliable or current. Like I said it is a alright resource but better things can be found here. Thanks again for the idea and heads up.

Try www.wikihow.com that's cool too. Search for the "how to brew cheap wine" article. That's gold
