Help Where to start?

Hey there,

currently i am working as a software engineer/webdeveloper and i would like to start building a passive income with online marketing. I am not really new to this market but still need some help and advice where to start. I did some mailing campaigns in the past and i am familar with the instruments of marketing as well.

I would like to give it a start without investing big amounts of bucks, getting some domains, generating content and start building traffic with some website.

Now i am not sure whatīs a good start to do so, like finding a niche, finding offers to promote or generating content and traffic.

Where to start? (i donīt want to come up with a blog xD)

Thanks in advance!

Hello There -

You have tons of options but my advice is that the first thing to do is join the affiliate networks and then decide upon which offers to promote (ideally these would be the highest converting, highest paying or both). Then determine the niches that those offers would work with best and then develop your content and websites. Again, there are no hard and fast rules for any of this, figure out what works for you and work it.

If you've already got some domains, work backwards. That is, try to figure out what programs would work for those domains and build mini sites or LPs around them. There are plenty of people here that promote all kinds of things, so irregardless of what you've got, chances are that someone can help.

If you're not already tied down, then definitely go with something that you've got an interest in, and preferably for something that you're always going "I wish I could find a bloody site that's got X on it!". Guaranteed, you're not the only person thinking that, so you're likely to get a good corner on the market.

Finally, as a programmer, you'll have a natural edge over a lot of other people because you'll be able to script the stuff you think you need, as opposed to wallowing in ignorance, or paying through the nose for something to do it for you.
Make friends with XMCP and Deliguy. Those guys really know their shit in respects to that kind of stuff.

thanks for your quick reply, could you suggest some affili networks i should register to ?

the next question would be what kind of website i need to snatch traffic and if there are general rules what kind of traffic is converting best for affiliate offers (seo, ppc..). Seo traffic i could imagine takes some time to grow. On the other hand i donīt wana spend money on adwords and so on for the beginning. So how to grab some targeted traffic here that might convert?

And whats up with content? Do i need a website with lotīs of quality content and unique value, smart ideas. Or are some basic landing pages with good saling texts doing it well too?

thanks so far

See sig for your first one. :-)

For the rest: READ this forum. Look at the sticky posts and read, read, read.

But on short, SEO can take time and PPC takes money. Both work as long as the keywords you target match your niche. I sent you a PM with more... But that should get you started...

what are typical good converting niches to build a website around for collecting mailing list data ? Maybe some mainstream things like gaming sites / communitys. What are your experience ?

Every legal online business which lets you see cash relatively soon has four key things;

- A focused target market - the focused the better
- A product people in that market are hungry for - making them much likely to buy
- A marketing strategy - to put your product in front of propective buyers
- Automation - to make the income stream as ppassive as possible

The implementation details will vary but those four things will be there.
