Is it safe to use hosting from one of those free hosting websites, not from like someone you slightly know? I was thinking about using it, but I don't want everything to go to shit if by chance I actually make some money and have traffic coming in.

If you mean using one of the free hosting domains such as mykeyword.freehost.com or www.myfreehost.com/keyword then i would definately say no because like you said if things go pear shaped you will be fubar

If you own the domain then i would say yes but only if absolutely necesary... you could always point your domain to a different host if things go wrong... just to remember to keep a backup of your site

Personally i only use free hosts for link juice and indexing.. You can get a half decent host these days for pennies

I am more for paid hosting as there are some which is less than $5 a month. Your domain and hosting is like your real estate but in virtual form.

You can get real cheap (talking like $5 a month) hosting from fairly big companies. Zensix (search threads by "subigo") have an offer on atm. I think you can get a years hosting for like $15. Great support, srsly. I don't mind paypal'ing you the dough if you're short on cash.

But yeah, I wouldn't recommend using free hosting, reason being: you start getting good traffic and they pull the plug on ya - you're more fucked than megan fox walking through detroit at 2am wearing a mini-skirt.

No, I have domains, just no hosting. My income at the moment isn't stable enough, though I can probably get paid hosting if I try, but there's free hosting that will probably serve my needs as a newbie won't it?

Never is anything truly free... You will set up a shop and get nice and cozy just to find one day the site is down or is covered with porn or gambling ads...Traffic may seem fine but you would be surprised how load times will suffer throughout the day and you will lose out on the impatient traffic.

Use that offer above and get the 12 dollar a year hosting plan.. It will save you loads of trouble and pain in the ass later on...

seriously if you are going to use freehosting, use blogger or wordpress and make a blog. There is no reason whatsoever to use the other shady free hosts. Its free because they get to put ads over your stuff. Thats the only reason why its free. They make money off you building content. Its a pretty good business deal
