Unlocking this to see if there is any interest. My goal for the third installment is to get people making money. To that end, this episode will possibly have a "sponsor" and maybe even prizes. (omg)

Of course to make things a no-brainer and no excuses, I'll find a server that we can setup free accounts on for the duration of the...contest(?) and also will provide domain names for those that need them. PLUS - I will make myself more available to help people get campaigns going, etc via AIM, IRC, and PM (no email guys, if you can't reach me through one of the other methods, I obviously don't want to be reached).

So...

I agree NE2 was a lot less organized than it should have been. To that end I'm putting together a lot of stuff for NE3. Clear time frames, video tutorials, goals, etc. Also the affiliate company I'm working with is going to be involved as well. My hope is to see people make over $1000 during the course of NE3.

Quick run down:

I will provide hosting, domain name and assistance for the duration of the project. You provide the talent, work ethic, and money (if doing PPC).

Pretty simple. Right now, things are still being set up and worked out, so I don't have a start date yet, but hopefully it will be soon. Spread the word. If you know of anyone that is on the fence about internet marketing, this is the perfect opportunity to jump in and try it out. I don't claim to be a guru, but you could do worse for a mentor (probably better also, but you're stuck with me.)

A few caveats:
1. they must be a member of Wickedfire. If they aren't currently get them to sign up.
2. ummm...I can't think of anymore at this time that I want to divulge. So for now, make sure they are WF members.

I suffer from severe self-doubt and procrastination (I've only just started to build my first site, even though I have been lurking for so long), so I would really benefit from participating in NEp3. I need a good kick up the backside.

Would it be alright for me to use my own hosting and domain for NEp3, or do you want us to target specific niches/offers using specific domains that you own? I ask because I am trying to learn everything as I go, so I wont have any traffic and conversion data to report back for a good few months (I am building for organic traffic because I cant afford to get into PPC).

Sign me up either way!

There is no limit to the number of participants. Just realize that as the count goes up it may be harder to get one on one help. I will do my best to keep up.

Well I am trying to go the SEO route and would like to see a video tutorial on gauging competition in natural search results. It would be useful for those trying to identify a micro niche and related long tail keywords. It could cover things like 'number of pages found' in the context of number of backlinks that the top ranked competition is getting. Presumably you would use free keyword tools and 'link:http://www.site.com' search terms in the video to come to a conclusion for a niche.

You could split this into two. An initial niche research for relatively broad first level keyword phrases (eg 'website hosting reviews'). Then how this might change for the long tails for when we are writing the copy for specific pages (eg 'virtual dedicated hosts reviews').

Just a thought

I'd like to see something on effectively choosing keywords for maximum click throughs and convertions. Maybe even using Erect's keyword tool as a starting place - since he offered it's use. (Thank you Erect! And good marketing!) Not just on how to use the tool, but focused more on the logic behind it and how to interpret it. (Yes I read the threads with the Valentines day examples
Being the proverbial broke, ignorent (of virtually all things web related) noob, my tentative plan for actually getting started is to do PPC direct to merchant. Yes, I understand the value of landing pages and preselling. I just feel like, for me, the learning curve for getting a decent landing page up and going is too steep in the short run (meaning I want to do something now). So I want to make sure a have a solid handle on the math, basic keyword/niche analysis etc.

I'm open to whatever here. I do think a guide to choosing niches (both seo & ppc) would be a great place for newbies to start. There are a few problems with this ....

PPC keyword that convert depend heavily on ad copy & a pre-selling landing page. Some people can't get any sales off of "review" or "scam" type of words .... others bank.

I've got an algorithm that I wrote for campaign sniper that takes several factors into consideration before creating a KEI~ish value for your PPC needs. I've been meaning to do a write up on it so when I get it up, I'll post it.

This is a totally flawed system though. It relies on raw data to do calculations that's best handled by the human brain. A user's intent when searching, along with themed ad copy & landers, are probably the most important factors in finding profitable keywords.

An seo tool is different, it's my opinion that you can crunch the data down to find some low hanging fruit. However, I won't be sharing my complete system here because that's where I make my money.

To point you in the right direction: In my opinion, some of the most important factors that you can look at are domain links, direct page links, intitle competition for the SERPs. As you can tell, without an automated process this can take some serious time.

The truth of the matter is that to really find the easy niches to rape, you have to do this on a very large scale and be willing to compete in ANY niche.

seo_mike: camtasia is awesome .. you'll have fun with it. You are welcome to make a tut but I've already got one showing how to use the system efficiently. Check that PM I sent you and we can get the ball rolling here.

I love Camtasia. There are a few things that I haven't figured out, like how to have two audio tracks at different volumes. You know, the narration track at normal and a music bed. Oh well, don't really need it, I just want it.

UPDATE: I spoke to the affiliate company that will be throwing the contest portion of this project, and they are down with it. Prizes and levels have yet to be determined, so let me ask you, what would you like to see for prizes? Basically there are two options: 1. Cool - but impractical - swag like a plasma TV OR 2. Stuff that could be used to grow your business - like dedicated hosting for a year or free domains

Let me know what you think about prizes.

Also, this is cool, I'm trying to talk the affiliate company into doing something that hasn't been done before. At least in mainstream, adult aff companies have done it for years. It's looking good, but as with everything creases need to be ironed and details hammered out. If it goes through, it will be VERY good for those on a tight budget.

Last: fuck the SEO tutorial, figure it out on your own.

Seriously though, I don't think it would be the best benefit for the most people. Sooooo....instead I'm going to do a tutorial on launching a PPC campaign from ground zero to actually running it. The tutorial will have a real campaign with a fixed budget. I'm not going to create a completely fake campaign for "widgets" or something. I'll go through the process of research, signing up for an affiliate network, choosing an offer, creating a landing page, signing up with an ad network, writing the copy, testing, etc..... Hopefully, it will even make some money. We'll see though.

Realistically, with all that needs to be done, NE3 is still probably 2 - 4 weeks away. I know, I know, stop your groaning, but I want this to really help people and not be a repeat of NE2. In the meantime, feel free to hit me up on AIM if you need help with something (other than sex or money, and sex is negotiable if you're female and really hot).

Get back to work, you're not making any money reading forums.

Maybe even using Erect's keyword tool as a starting place - since he offered it's use. (Thank you Erect! And good marketing!) Not just on how to use the tool, but focused more on the logic behind it and how to interpret it. (Yes I read the threads with the Valentines day examples Being the proverbial broke, ignorent (of virtually all things web related) noob, my tentative plan for actually getting started is to do PPC direct to merchant. Yes, I understand the value of landing pages and preselling. I just feel like, for me, the learning curve for getting a decent landing page up and going is too steep in the short run (meaning I want to do something now). So I want to make sure a have a solid handle on the math, basic keyword/niche analysis etc.
