Ppc Break Even Campaigns

So from what I understand about PPC so far. It's a good thing if you launch a campaign and it is break even right out of the gate. Apparently this means that it has a lot of potential. My question is, how EXACTLY do you take a break even campaign and turn it into profit. Is it a slow process that happens over time? What steps are involved in this?

Well that makes sense, but my problem is that I'm tackling bigger markets and even throwing 500 dollars a day at a campaign (which is a lot for me) it's hard to judge with that little of data, 8 conversions spread over 70 different ad groups isn't a lot to go off of.

If you are doing PPC you can work on lowering your CPC, work on improving your CTR, or boosting your quality score, improvements in either of those will result in cheaper clicks and hence moving from break even to profit.

70 ad groups is to much to test to get any knowledge.

test 1 ad vs 1 ad. find the winner, and put it against another ad.

once you make some good improvements, test one LP vs another LP.

when you get a decent LP, test headlines.

Now, go back thru your ads to better fit the LP

then test adcenter response vs adwords.
test search vs content.
test LP colors
test Long tail vs short tail.
test long copy vs short copy
test highlighted text vs non.
test monday vs tuesday
test weekdays vs weekends
test work hours vs beer hours
test east coast vs west coast.

1 vs 1 to get a good idea. to gain experience. You need a good amount of response to test anything. 10 clicks won't do it $100 a test seems to be a good guideline around here. and TRACK YOUR TESTING

amirdash has a spectacular aura about
The easiest thing to do is screen out all non-converting keywords. Do that and pooph, your break even campagin goes green.

This is good advice. There is a reason scientists only test a single variable in an experiment, because if you are doing any more you don't know where the result is coming from.

Yep, breaking even is good to start. It would be more effective to tell us more about what you are doing. The answers you are getting are from people making assumptions about what you're doing.

But yeah, Amirdash is right about getting rid of or reducing bids on your poor-converting keywords.

And I'm not sure anyone has mentioned day parting. Do you notice more conversions come at a certain time of day? Well, then just reduce your bid for the rest of the day by 20-100% and you'll be banking.
