Now that I have built up some good savings from my IM, I was thinking about buying products to sell on Ebay. I know that isnt what this board is about, but you guys seem to be the most educated and informed forum members of all the forums.
I am looking at a physical product. It is an "As seen on TV" product. I found a few suppliers on Alibaba that are gold suppliers that have the item. However, I think they are replicas. They look identical to the packaging and products of the legit products. If I did sell these items (USA), and they did turn out to be fake, could I get in a lot of trouble? |

It isnt a snuggie. Anyway, I have found a few items, and after talking to the suppliers...THEY ARE ALL FAKES. I thought only handbags and watches were faked.
I have money and would liek to buy some LEGIT product. I have a Tax ID number. Does anyone know of a source where I can get legit wholesale products 100 pieces+ |

Liquidation.com - Wholesale and Surplus Auctions by Liquidators
Go buy a pallet of Prada, Michael Kors, or Coach bags and go to town. Michael Kors did well for me. I sold a few Coaches but Kors did way better. |

Don't sell them on eBay, either... There are plenty of other auction places, and provided you're promoting your shit through a blog that gets some decent SERP for the terms related to your items, you'll do better off as a lot of the smaller places turn a blind eye to knock off shit if my trawling through them for a dual-sim phone is anything to go by.

Meh.

Do plenty of research.
Two years back, I was selling 30 iPod Touches a day for $200, and buying them in bulk from someone on Alibaba who had promised me that they were legit for $150 each. I was making roughly $40 profit on each one, and selling 30 a day, that's $1200 profit without much work (dropshipping). Did this for a few days, and it turned out that the guy was dropshipping complete fakes. Got a ton of chargebacks and both my PayPal and eBay accounts were suspended indefinitely. Be extremely careful with dropshipping or even purchasing anything from sites such as Alibaba.

I've only been able to find decent clothing manufacturers off alibaba. I was able to get flat brim fitted hats for our company at a fraction of cost of working with New Era. The hats were amazing quality and were around a few bucks a piece for less than 200 items. You can't get that deal stateside even if you owned the sewing company! (New Era had a 10k piece minimum, and they told me they were too busy to even bother with a 10k run anyway!)
It's easier to launch your own brand or clothing company off of alibaba than to rip off someone else. You could buy a lot of diesel jeans at a few bucks per pair with your own logo and labels sewn in, then you don't get in trouble |

Okay, never did this but have been thinking about it and have surfed alibaba with much curiosity, so really appreciate this thread...and have a question. Can't you tell people you're selling "replicas" of something? Or don't people want it then? Just curious...but wouldn't that make it legit?

Sold fake Dunks for awhile. Money was good, but it was more trouble than it was worth in the end. Don't do it! Reinvest that money into IM.
