Question Alibaba Question about Fake Products?

Now that I have built up some good savings from my IM, I was thinking about buying products to sell on Ebay. I know that isnt what this board is about, but you guys seem to be the most educated and informed forum members of all the forums.

I am looking at a physical product. It is an "As seen on TV" product. I found a few suppliers on Alibaba that are gold suppliers that have the item. However, I think they are replicas. They look identical to the packaging and products of the legit products.

If I did sell these items (USA), and they did turn out to be fake, could I get in a lot of trouble?

It's probably one of those fucking snuggies . Anyways, yes, I believe you can get in trouble. That's like buying up a whole bunch of chinese shit replica purses and slanging them on Ebay. You could also just act like you don't know they are fake. One time I bought up a bunch of Gucci wallets and sold them on ebay. I think they were fake (the wholesaler I got them from said they were authentic) and many people I sold them to said they were fake. There were a lot of returns. It turned out to be a huge pain in my ass.

It isnt a snuggie. Anyway, I have found a few items, and after talking to the suppliers...THEY ARE ALL FAKES. I thought only handbags and watches were faked.

I have money and would liek to buy some LEGIT product. I have a Tax ID number. Does anyone know of a source where I can get legit wholesale products 100 pieces+

Liquidation.com - Wholesale and Surplus Auctions by Liquidators

Go buy a pallet of Prada, Michael Kors, or Coach bags and go to town.
Michael Kors did well for me. I sold a few Coaches but Kors did way better.

I saw some of the phones coming from China, they are essentially the same hardware-wise, but they have brand names like NOKLA and iPhome

Don't sell them on eBay, either... There are plenty of other auction places, and provided you're promoting your shit through a blog that gets some decent SERP for the terms related to your items, you'll do better off as a lot of the smaller places turn a blind eye to knock off shit if my trawling through them for a dual-sim phone is anything to go by.

Go buy some ECigs and sell them. Good profit margin if you can stomach the potential litigation risks.

You'll end up VeRO'd and get suspended or banned from ebay if you sell stuff you get from alibaba.

Do plenty of research.

Two years back, I was selling 30 iPod Touches a day for $200, and buying them in bulk from someone on Alibaba who had promised me that they were legit for $150 each. I was making roughly $40 profit on each one, and selling 30 a day, that's $1200 profit without much work (dropshipping).

Did this for a few days, and it turned out that the guy was dropshipping complete fakes. Got a ton of chargebacks and both my PayPal and eBay accounts were suspended indefinitely. Be extremely careful with dropshipping or even purchasing anything from sites such as Alibaba.

This is a great post..

What about Shipping to Canada? Anyone have any connections?

Also, any ideas about pricing by weight and/or size?

Be careful when trading with china wholesalers. Few months ago I bought few hundred flash drives from a guy. Nearly 50% of the drives ware broken. The fucker disappeared after that.

I've only been able to find decent clothing manufacturers off alibaba. I was able to get flat brim fitted hats for our company at a fraction of cost of working with New Era. The hats were amazing quality and were around a few bucks a piece for less than 200 items. You can't get that deal stateside even if you owned the sewing company! (New Era had a 10k piece minimum, and they told me they were too busy to even bother with a 10k run anyway!)

It's easier to launch your own brand or clothing company off of alibaba than to rip off someone else. You could buy a lot of diesel jeans at a few bucks per pair with your own logo and labels sewn in, then you don't get in trouble

Okay, never did this but have been thinking about it and have surfed alibaba with much curiosity, so really appreciate this thread...and have a question. Can't you tell people you're selling "replicas" of something? Or don't people want it then? Just curious...but wouldn't that make it legit?

Ebay would never allow that, there's already been a few lawsuits against them for replicas being sold on their site. You might get away with it on Craigslist. I don't know what the legalities are if you're admittedly selling replicas though.

Why brother trying to sell a replica brand?
It's not too hard to make an inferior product and get a decent marketing campaign going to make it seem edgy and in.

Sold fake Dunks for awhile. Money was good, but it was more trouble than it was worth in the end. Don't do it! Reinvest that money into IM.
